When it comes to lifting weights, I strongly believe that lifting heavy is the way to go. Doing smaller sets with heavier weight is perfect for building muscle and strength, rather than doing exhausting two hour sessions with smaller weights that feel like cardio. However, for beginners I would recommend that they start with smaller weights and increased repetitions per set so that they can improve muscle tone and learn how to do the exercises correctly.
